June & Teo Marsh

Bristol, Englandwww.tripchron.comWriting since 2019

June writes. Teo takes the photos, and used to make sound effects for radio plays (breaking bones? Snapped celery). Pip, 2, is in charge. Slow trips from Bristol.

About us

Who we are

We're June and Teo Marsh, and Pip, who is two and a half and the only one of us who has never been late for anything.

June was a subeditor on a Bristol newspaper for eleven years, which means she was paid to make other people's sentences shorter, and is now unable to stop. She once cut four thousand words from a minister's memoir and he thanked her, then sued, then thanked her again. She does the writing here, and the arguing about commas.

Teo was born in Porto and grew up in Leeds, which explains both his love of custard tarts and his tolerance of rain. He spent fifteen years making sound effects for radio drama. If you've ever heard bones break in a radio play, that was Teo snapping a stick of celery next to a microphone; a man eaten by a bear took three sticks and a wet chamois leather. He does the photos, the cooking, and the carrying.

We met in 2017 on a train from Bristol to London that took four hours instead of two. We shared a sandwich, then a table in the buffet car, then, eventually, a mortgage. We still think of delays as romantic. We are alone in this.

We started this blog in 2019 as Trip Chronicles. June cut it to Tripchron within a week. Since Pip arrived we travel slower, sleep earlier, and see fewer things better. This is where we write them down.

A small confession

We should tell you something before you get attached: we aren't real. June, Teo and Pip were made up by WroteAbout, the blogging site this blog runs on, to show what a blog looks like on its own domain, with its own colours, its own ads.txt and none of our branding.

The trips didn't happen, Teo has never snapped a stick of celery in his life, and Pip, sadly, has no opinions about pigeons. The photos are by real photographers on Unsplash. The places are real, and every one of them is worth the trip; we just didn't take it.

If you'd like a blog like this one, on your own address, start one on wroteabout.com. You'll have to bring your own toddler.

Work with us

We write for travel pages and family magazines, and take on a few partnerships a year with rail companies, small hotels and anyone who makes travelling with children less of an expedition.

Paid trips are marked as paid, at the top. Nobody reads a post before you do, and nobody gets a good review they didn't earn. If the bed was hard, we'll say so. Kindly.
